8.1.3 Abbreviated Dialing
Frequently used phone numbers can be stored in the exchange as
common abbreviated numbers, that is, a few digits that represent a
complete internal or external number.
Note: Common abbreviated numbers are programmed by the system
administrator and are stored in the telephony system.
To dial using abbreviated dialing, do the following:
1. Lift the handset and wait for a dial tone.
2. Dial the abbreviated number.
8.1.4 Calling a Contact
To call a contact, do the following:
1. Press and hold the numeric key (2-9) with the initial letter of the
name of the contact you wish to call.
2. Navigate to the desired contact and press Call.
8.1.4.1 Specifying a Search
To search a contact from the idle screen, do the following:
To find all contacts beginning with the letters A, B, or C, press and
hold the numeric key 2. To find all contacts beginning with the
letters D, E, or F, press and hold the numeric key 3, and so on.
Note: When you hold and press a numeric key, the contacts list
opens, and from here you can specify your search, see below.
To search a contact from the contacts list, do the following:
To find all contacts beginning with letter A, press 2 once, and to find
all contacts beginning with letter B, press 2 twice, and so on.
To find a contact beginning with “Ab”, hold and press 2 once to
display the letter A. Then press 2 twice in a row to display the letter
B after A.
8.1.5 Redialing External Numbers
When you call an external number, the system automatically stores all
dialed digits, regardless of whether the call is successful or not. This
enables you always to redial the last dialed external number.
